More on fiber Arts

More on fiber Arts

I am so ready to felt my heart out!  Lol, cant wait until I can get all the materials I need!  I am going to try my hand at a skirt and vest soon!

I am doing it all in natural colors, nothing dyed yet, just to see how that looks.  I have such pretty dreams of it, not only felting but spinning it and crochet and learning to knit…  I dont know, it will happen, I am just always wanting it yesterday!  :p

I tried my hand at a skirt, except I guess i did not wash the lanolin out of my merino enough because it has some yellow streaks in it, yikes!  But I got some roasting pans with lids so next batches will come out perfect!  Course, now I need the fleeces!

I am ordering some soon, about 19 pounds of it, that should keep me busy a bit!  I dont know though…  I really prefer washing and hand carding it myself to buying the commercial rovings, better quality control I think.

But with my skirt, I am searching for the right material to use as it's lacey hem! I know what I am looking for so hopefully I will have the cash when I find it!  I think that is the hardest part of it all, that desire so real yet the bank account so empty!  :p  I know what I plan to do with it, I plan to wet felt some flowers for it, my first ride was to use th beautiful mohair I have but decided to switch that around and use the mohair for a scarf I think…  So plan some flowers for the edge and then some sort of silk lace-y lining.  It is not quite a wrap-a-round one, I am planning one of those next!

Ohhh, for that one, I am waiting for the silk stuff I ordered to come in!  I ordered a bunch of the natural undyed silk hankies (mawata) and some silk noil, also undyed.  The merino has some angora mixed in by hand by me.  But it will start out waist to floor length and shrink to about knee length!  It should be an interesting piece!  the inside lining is Sheland/tunis batt I ordered from The Woolery, I peeled a layer of it off and will use that as the bottom base.  I think it then can have 2 textures!  The outside will be the silky side and the inside will be the more textured side.  I hope it comes out as I picture it!

I still want to find a place in town to rent and use as my fiber art studio!  I dont know, I am not sure if I can afford it.  but I will be able to use this table at any rate for it!  I plan to move all the electronics far away and then can wet felt it.  It will hang over the edge a bit but you use what you got, right!

It is exciting though!  I am not forgetting the film stuff, no worries!   I am writing up my second short and plan to get them both done this coming week!  I have my first short almost done and the second should go much faster!  Dont want to spoil the surprise of it but it should be fun and short!

Follow your dreams!  It will take lots of hard work to get there but so worth it!  I used to keep my dreams safely hidden in my heart, partly because I was in bad marriage and felt worthless and partly because it was my secret strength.  It is a million times better now going for it!  It is a great state of mind to find yourself in!  I hope you show this to anyone you know who has low self esteem and needs a bit of help!  it can be so hard and so scary at first!  that first few steps are the hardest but also the best you will ever take!  the first steps to freedom in your mind!

I hope you all are following your dreams!  Love you all and please take care of ourself and each other!  Remember the #indigenous in your prayers!

Opps just realized I forgot to mention the beautiful dream I had!  I had moved with my family out to the country and I had merino sheep and some other sheep and made my very own yurt.  Oh, it was amazing!  sort of in the style of an Unangan house, mostly underground but the yurt acted like a tented roof to it and I had areas tunneled into it for bedrooms and all…  It was so gorgeous everyone wanted to buy it from me!  It was a sweet dream!  I had a fashion show because everyone liked my texture of my clothes!  I created a sort of basic dress like the "little black dress" but in natural colored merino  :p  It was a huge hit because of the texture of it.  My crowning piece was my flower one though… my hat was the stem and my arms were the leaves and the dress was like an upside down tulip or something with the inside colored subtly so when it was folded up to create the tulip shape it had a hint of color… it was pretty!  someday…  :p

Sigh, they will never stop stealing from us…

Sigh, they will never stop stealing from us…

It is hard to like any Westerner when it never ever stops, this stealing of our stuff…

Corrupt and vicious are 2 of the politest words to use to describe them…  It seems like they will never stop but that is only because you 30-40 million "good" westerners do nothing to stop it…

They created the national parks to steal control of our lands from us and they created "refuges" to protect it for us but all it did was take our say about what happens on our lands away…  They are nothing but vicious war criminals and you dear Europe need to call all your people back!!  To all those who already support #indigenous rule, thank you!  it matters!  It matter so much!  Now we need the rest of your kind to follow in your footsteps!  Please help us educate them to see reality and not western fantasy!  it is not harmless what is happening all over the world, it is vicious and cruel and you benefit from it not us!!  but it can stop!

Together We Stand! Pass it on!

Together We Stand!

The 'eviction' deadline is approaching, all those who can get there please go!

Thanks to all the Westerners who have found their courage to stand with us, it matters!  Please pass this on to everyone you know, the deadline is approaching and you have to choose a side.  There is no more fence sitting to see who wins…

They are behaving illegally and "America" does not care, it never did remember…  it was all a lie to steal our stuff…  that time is over!

Everyone can feel change is coming, what side will you be on?

Remember the #indigenous in your prayers, your thoughts and send good wishes, strength and love!    We truly need it!

hugs to all who need them, find your courage, we are with you!!

Fiber Arts

Fiber Arts

I got the spindle kit today!  yeah!  I am excited and practiced a bit with my navaho churro before attempting to use her pretty fibers included…  What I really liked about her kit was the variety of fibers, we get to try a couple to get a feel for the differences!  nice!

The Hippie Homemaker Deluxe Drop Spindle Kit

I have been busy…  The merino I ordered from the local farm in Fairbanks (if we can call hundreds of miles apart "local"  :p  ) is half carded now.  I need to wash the other one but look forward to it.  I like having control of the product this way.  I think when you wash it yourself, hand card it yourself then you feel it much better.

This merino I mixed with angora rabbit fur but forgot to weigh it or keep track of the ration of merino to angora…  since I plan to use it to wet felt a skirt, I think it is ok, but I do need to get into the habit of tracking it and making notes.

If you follow me on Instagram you can see a lot of the fibers there.  I also bought some mohair from her and am amazed at how pretty it is.  I didn't think I would like it so much, but her grey mohairs were amazing!  I think I prefer the darker colors so if I got a goats for myself they would need to be silver/grey/black…

Oh man though, I am feeling so happy.  I washed the Tunis cross I had gotten with the navaho churro.  It was thrown in for free for the lady I got it from because it was second cuts and the lady wanted to try it anyway.  It is soft and nice but hard to hand card since it is seconds (meaning short pieces).  I put it aside until I can get the drum carder.

I am awaiting an order of silk hankies and "waste" to make my skirt.  I plan on redoing the Kickstarter once I have that and see if I can raise some money that way by offering felted items since crocheted did not seem too popular  :p

I cant decide whether to film me attempting to wet felt the skirt or not.  I am much happier on the other side of the camera but also want to show what we are doing too…  So I think I will set it up on the table in here and do it that way…  I think it is wider then this table and I had planned to do it on the floor so maybe will try that and see how that comes out and if needed we can move it to this table…

What kinds of hobbies do you do?

Are you following your dreams?

It is so important to go for it!  Life seems crazy and sometimes so scary with so much craziness happening, but for our own sense of self and mental health we need to keep positive and active.

Hopefully that package comes soon and I can do the skirt.  I cant wait to try it!  I have been doing some and hope to get a bunch of merino to felt with soon!  It is hard sometimes to get started when everything costs so much!  But it is worth it and working slowly toward it makes you love it when you take that next step!

Illegal actions at Standing Rock

The treaty is a legal document, not something you can just ignore…  If you let them do this to us, they will do it to you next!!

You can not pretend you do not know!

Militarized "police" about to commit genocide…  again…

will you ignore it or will you stand with us?

They have no right to come onto our lands, we are sovereign, that means we rule ourselves…  too many crazy and greedy white people and they count 100% on your inaction, dear Westerner!  Do not pretend you do not know it is happening!

Now is the time to decide, are you a decent person or a war criminal?  It is either/or from this moment on…  forever after, you will know and we will know the kind of person you are!

Send strength and prayers and take action however you can!  It matters!

hugs to all those who need them!

Stand Up Now or forever wish you had!

Stand Up Now or forever wish you had!

Such a crazy time we live in!  Trump acting like he is king or something and can bypass the constitution..  just a continuation of the colonizing "bs" that has been going on for hundreds of years…

Watch this video where they call for you to come and put your life on the line for the Earth.  We have no choice anymore!  We are not afraid and we will not back down.

If you are wondering how to send prayers of strength and love and healing, it is not hard at all.  I will give a simple example and you can use that to figure out what feels right for you…

  • Find a quiet room where you can be by yourself if possible… if not find a quiet spot where you wont be interrupted too much.

  • Does not need to be in darkness, I think it just makes it less distracting so if you prefer to sit with lights on, no worries!

  • Silence or soft music, either way will work really…  some dont like silence so some soft music in the background will help you to relax and find your center…

  • Quiet yourself, that is hard for some people at first.  We are used to thinking, planning, keeping ourselves amused with thoughts, whatever, so turning that all off can be hard at first.  Getting to a quiet place in your mind/spirit is what some call finding your center.

  • For meditation you would try to keep this state as long as possible but for sending prayers it is ok to begin thinking of them now…

  • some simple thoughts to send:
  • "please help those who need strength be strong"
  • "please help those who need healing to heal"
  • please help those defending our Mother"

  • or just think like a chant:  "love, strength, defend our mother"

That is just the very basics and you can find local indigenous to teach you how they do it…  it matters more that you do it then how you do it!!

I believe we are all One People, but that does not mean I tolerate the murder, rape and theft of our lands, our people or our resources.  It is wrong, period.  If you are Western then it is maybe time to think of moving back to your own Home.  You may find you love it there and will be glad you did.  If you truly do not want to leave, find your local indigenous tribes and ask what to do if you want to stay.  Just try to remember that you are the product of the psychotic murderers who came here long ago and not our "gods" like you read in the fake history text books and mot important of all is that you were not invited by us (well, most were not, some were)…  So keep that in mind when asking what to do to stay, it is not your right or privilege, you need to see the local indigenous as the rightful rulers of the lands...

They tried to teach you to be afraid of Death, but it is no more scary then going to sleep at night.  While it is true, some do fear that, it is normal and natural for most of us and nothing to fear.

What we need to fear is the crazy idea that we can continue to destroy the world we live in.  There are psychotic men who would rather destroy it if they can not own it.  We need to stand strong and together in the face of such insanity!  We need to give strength to those who believe like we do but fear what will happen if they say it out loud.

It is one reason I am so wanting to create Art, to bring much needed beauty into the world!  I cant seem to get support for that but what I can and will do no matter what is send out strength, healing, love and hugs to all those who need it.  While we all wish we could do more, we need to keep the Earth in our prayers and thoughts and find the will to become willing to die to defend her, because it has come to that, sadly!

Now is the time to get to Standing Rock and put your very life on the line for Mother Earth.  If like me, you can not get there in person, be there in spirit!  It matters and is real and "counts" to send prayers and good thoughts if we can not get there in person.

love and hugs to all those who need them!
