Truly A New Beginning!

Each year I plan so much but much is left unfinished,

but,

this year will be different

I am finally in Homer! After years of planning I finally made it!

I met with a small business planner to help get it rolling and the "problem" moving forward is my lack of cash... yeah, that is why I go after loans to do it! He said I will need to either get a job to show income or sell my sci fi trilogy called "Starfleet Alyeska".

Right now for shiggles I did a kickstarter because I miss my fiber art studio and it will be months before I can buy a house and get my stuff out of storage in Anchorage! It needs to reach the full funding amount since it is "all or nothing" and I have one backer so far. I hope more people become interested but I can totally understand my not having current pics to show! Also, it is not urgent as I have the supplies but in storage. I just do not want to wait around 6 months to be able to handcard wool, use my drum carder or blending board to create rolags or batts, spin yarn or weave yarn or most important of all: nuno felt yarn!

Many of you know i broke my hip at the beginning of 2025 and that changed a lot of things for me. It made me want to truly work on my mobility and strength this coming year! Not where i do it once a month but try to do it consistently. so that is a main goal for this year for me! my inspo is this girl:

And I plan to take her course sometime

. So things are looking so good poised at the start of a New Year! I feel this is the year! Course I feel that at the start of each year but this year I am in Homer and going to make it happen! hehe

wow, I had not tried kickstarter for ages and decided to give it a go since I would like to create between now and when I get a house and can bring all my fiber art studio and unpack it all!

but right away after I lauched it I got a $10 backer and he messaged saying he has lots of friends and we can email about it all... I said thanks for the support and if he knows anyone wanting an original work of wearable art definitely tell them about my campaign... he wrote back he likes my project and displayed lots of insterest and all of that then mentioned all his friends prefer talking through emails.. so I let it go uncommented figuring "yeah, scam alert" and he withdrew his $10! So beware, what was it one K-Drama said "does meatpie fall from the sky?" when something seems too good... I bought a crochet hook and yarn to keep me busy and creative! I am currently making a pullover sweater for my daughter. the first one I started the cats kept eating the yarna and I realized I had like a dozen joins and thought over time it would loosen too much so began a new one... So I have something to keep my hands happy between now... .

Kickstarter . I have old samples of my work from ages ago, I have not filmed or photographed much lately, I have plans to revive it very soon!! . . .

. I do have what i need for a fiber art studio, I just want to do some creative work now through these 6 months of so before I can move into a house! It would be great to get either some raw fleece and hand carder or a drum carder and materials, that much is true though... it is not urgent and many things happening around the world are urgent, that I understand... it would be nice to felt and spin too! I miss my fiber art studio!

Wow, so I am finally in Homer but most of my life is in storage in Anchorage until I can buy a house in 6 months time! I do not want to wait that long to work with my hands so decided to try a small kickstarter to get some tools and materials! I loe working with my hands and miss the feel of wool between my fingers. I hope to raise about $25,000 but asked for only $2,500 as that is more realistic and more likely to be reached! crochet is fun but I want more...

 

the good news is I am finally in Homer, the bad news is all of my stuff is packed in storage until we buy a house in about 5 months!

 

I decided to try a small fund raiser to get some fiber art tools while I am waiting... I do have crochet hooks and yarn but I do so much more then just crochet!  

 

I miss hand carding wool 

 

I miss blending on a blending board or drum carder to create fascinating color combos and turn it into rolags to spin or batts for nuno felting

 

I miss sewing

 

I miss spinning wool into yarn

 

I miss nuno felting outfits and purses 

 

It is not urgent, nor will help us save the world, but it will help save my sanity  :p

 It was a friend of a friend who asked for my help setting up a gofundme for his hometown's school.  He was born there when it was still Yugoslavia and it is now Macedonia.  There were many children back then but now it is only 9 because the school has fallen into disrepair.

 

So, I will never go to this village,

I will never meet these wonderful and curious children

but I can help show we care from around the world

First thing I would try to remember is the indigenous ARE living a genocide, as you read this... 

 

You can pretend you are not a part of it, but you are here on indigenous lands without their permission and you ARE benefiting off of their suffering. That is fact, so no matter how kind you think you are, you are still a genocidal war profiteer at best, do you understand that?

 I have begun to crochet again, most of our stuff is packed away since we plan to move very soon, but I have been working on some projects.

I havent got pics yet, but will upload them once I do!  been working on a cardigan and trying to get it done quickly!

arm warmers

I crocheted a cute blue/grey striped arm warmers that go up past the elbow for one daughter who gets cold working at her desk and wanted some crochet ones (she has felted ones already  :p  )

beach cover

this was more practicing different stitches then being a beach cover  :p  but I plan to use it in a film where she is wearing it and looking at herself in the mirror and whoever comes up and asks what she is doing, they need to go.  She says she loves it but needs a new one so will stop and get more yarn on the way home...just to throw it into a film  :p

I am making a cute cardigan for another daughter who lost one of her sweaters (may have gotten thrown into the donate box or packed away by mistake).  It is more colorful then I intended as I had planned it all the main color but then thought "why not" and threw in 1 stripe then a grey one then another  :p

the last one I am making is a sleeveless cardigan but has a hoodie, that is next.

I got some exciting crochet kits from a lady who does such gorgeous work!  I am applying for another individual artist award for crochet and hope I get it.  It will be so incredible to be able to afford the yarn to make the costumes for the films!  

I hope everyone is working toward their dreams, even if it seems like super slo mo and baby steps!!  Never give up!

2021 Year end Wrap Up

 

2021 has been a good year, not perfect but ok.

The ongoing #indigenous #genocide is not yet ended, but soon, so...I do truly believe this horror will end in our lifetime, so feel the call Home and trust it!

 

 

I started a non-profit to help my tribe ages ago and this last year I have been working on getting some grants. I am very proud I applied for that huge America Build Back Better one though we did not pass through! To me it represented a faith and trust in our Peoples, that we could pull together and meet the challenges of “building back better”!!

I have tried for many grants and even though I did not get them, I did try my best and that is all you can do. I feel a positive energy being created by all this that is wholesome and beautiful and desperately needed for the #indigenous!

I am finally ready to actually do S’Happens this Spring, hopefully no more setbacks! I was sick one Spring, next spring we all were too busy doing other things then covid these last few years… But, I feel it is time to just go for it! So, trying to arrange that all so when the weather warms we are ready too!

Even though these are very crazy times we live in, remember the world is beautiful, Peoples are good for the most part, the end of #indigenous #genocide is in site!

 Hi all,  I am excited that my non-profit finally got the paperwork done and can now accept donations!

We serve the People of Attu, Alaska and Near Islands.  They lost everything and are living a #genocide nightmare!  We are scattered to the winds and have no federal recognition even, so a true and horrific #genocide.  

AIMS:

1) our first priority is to find everyone that was scattered to the winds.  Luckily the wind is our friend so we should find them at least sane if not thriving as we used to.

2)  Work to create a community / tribe where we can all recognize each other by sight and be a true tribe once again.

3)  We want to buy some land big enough we can call it our temporary home until we can get Attu and the Near Islands back.  We want to end the homeless/jobless/hopeless problems our communities face!

 

4)  We want to create a multi-media industry up here as we have so many vibrant and almost unknown cultures!  We created our own "M TOMA Inc" to help fund our non profit and hope to help produce other works as well.  

 

We have big dreams, big goals but almost zero funds...

We believe it will take the world united to get our Home back, and that is our goal, world peace  :p

Kingdom Korean Tv Show ~quick comments...

 I enjoyed this show so much!  It was not only interesting but the characters were very well done.  My favorite were the 2 woman:  

Seo-bi, a female doctor who is smart and resourceful and very caring.

 

 and Queen Consort Cho, insane but not her fault really

 

It interested me how alike they were, both strong woman in what you could call a "man's world" where the woman have to be exceptional to attain their goals.  Both start off in a position of power, the one a top doctor at the clinic and the other the only female child, made queen, of the crazy Cho clan.  Both also lose that power in a way.

Seo-bi is my favorite character of the tv show and I so hope she does not die in Season 3!!  She has luck too, as they were in the barn arguing when the "plague" started and she managed to survive it due to the other one being a skilled elite soldier called a "tiger hunter".  Her brains and quick thinking help save everyone.

I think if the queen consort Cho had been trained by Seo-bi instead of by her own father she would be a top magistrate because she had the brains and drive of her clan.  She was unlucky though, born to a man who only values the penis rather then the character.  I feel for her so much, imagine having been raised as useless and a waste and used by her father when she was "barely legal" to sire a royal heir.  I think she did lose touch with reality imagining she could retain her position once her father was gone.  It was not the family name that terrified everyone it was specifically her insane father...  

 

Definitely watch this show!  I know, it is very gory, but if you can ignore that aspect they do actually concentrate on story rather then blood bath after bloodbath!  

It is one of my top 3 shows of 2021!

“Binge-worthy” or not…

 

“Binge-worthy” or not…

Some of you know by reading my blog that I am developing several projects and one is a tv show (well several are tv shows) and I wonder about it being “binge worthy”. It is a new thing with channels like Netflix or boxed sets of shows that you can now sit and watch as many as you want in a row.

At first I thought I would try to make all of mine this way since it is the new style and we should adapt our ideas to fit what is there, right? But then I began to wonder about it. Some of my favorite shows are ones I can rewatch season 1 over and over again. I think because I am a director myself that I see how I would have done it differently so by season 2 I am going from loving the show to thinking it is “still good but…”

I think highly of shows that can blend the episodes so it does not feel like stop/start as you watch them. It was a goal of mine to keep this in the back of my mind as I create my episodes. While I want to make it “unique” to reflect my culture more and one good and easy way is the style of the movies and tv shows I have planned, I also want to “do it right”.

I just recently began watching some Asian tv dramas like “Yanxi Palace”, “Dr. Qin”, and most recently “Kingdom”. Having good characters, good visuals, attention to detail, and good stories is what I like about them.

Yanxi Palace is lavish and interesting but I find it harder and harder to rewatch the series. I love most of the characters, but the emperor’s character is one I detest so much that I just cant enjoy watching the beginning again knowing how it turns out. I saw it as “strong characters” and think it is a good thing. I mean, I did rewatch the series 3 times before I could not anymore.

 

 

Dr. Qin has only the first season available to us here in the usa and I half love the show and half wish I could go and redo it “better” :p The characters are good and quirky, the sets are nice, and good story. This one felt like they changed tactics partway through it. Like instead of “monster of the week” they wanted to have a serial killer vibe going and it felt like they changed course. Which makes me question it and wonder if they just decided the planned episodes were not good enough so threw them to season 2 and went a known path instead.

Now we come to Kingdom! It is making me rethink my episodes and how I want to do it. It has tense moments and seems to play upon our fear and knowledge of other zombie ones like mine planned to. I find I cant quite binge it though, I paused 4 times in the first episode though partly to let my director mind process it better. It is that play upon what we expect I think they do so well! So I cant binge watch it as my mind races ahead to imagine what is coming next and that makes me love the show.

So I find myself sitting here wondering which way to go, try for a binge-worthy one or try for one that makes you see all the scene wondering what will happen...I do love the challenge though!  I still plan to do my low budget horror movie "S'Happens" soon!  Hopefully it will be such amazing shows from my mind to your tv!!
