Man, I was not sure I would get it ready in time!   It is not as good as I would wish, but it is my first ever film edit so...wish I was better at the audio and effects!  The filmSupply challenge entry video is finally done, yeah!!  

It was really challenging but a lot of fun too!  I need to figure out a few things to make it easier but once I get those memorized...  heheh, skies the limit!

I hope you entered!  You have until around 5pm, but forget if that is east coast or central time though...   

I can see me doing this for all my films!  I really encourage you to go for it, whatever your dream is!  Yes, fantasizing about it can get you through a tough time but putting in the hard work to make it reality is even better!  I promise you won't be sorry for at least trying!  Don't wait to start, the younger you are the better in some ways, lots of time and energy for it though having all the experience of Time creates depth I think...  (thats me story and I am sticking to it...  heheh)

I am seriously thinking of switching from Premiere Pro to Sony Vegas, mainly because I hate this rental/be online thing they got going on now...  Not their business when I am online or what I am doing there!!!  This iCloud idea is one I really hate!!

As you know, I have been doing a clip for the FilmSupplyChallenge and really love editing!  But it sure puts thing into a new perspective for me...

Maybe part of it is because I am new at editing software but it took a lot to do that 60 seconds of film!   I understand a lot better now when they say to make sure you organize your stuff! I had already given myself time to edit my low budget werewolf film and think now that I will be using every second of my planned timeline!  Of course, I planned that time to raise funds for hiring someone for special effects but think I will still be doing the editing through part of it!

I still have not decided my werewolf look though...  I want a nod to the first werewolf films but much scarier...  Plus, I still have not gotten that idea of werewolf dreads out of my mind! lol, I don't know, I love dreads I guess is why I keep picturing them that way!!  Maybe I can make it look good...  I won't know until I actually try it out!  But think I will make at least one with dreads though all my werewolves are white, they all look alike transformed right?...  I just picture them looking so cool and fierce and deadly!!  

Lol, could also be I don't want to have to buy a lot of shirts that get torn off so picture them old school werewolf  :p  

I half wish I had the nerve to do this when I was much younger!  That is why I am always saying go for your dreams!  If I had gone for mine Slash and I would still be married, I would have a dozens films by now and who knows...  :p  Dream big or go home!!  hehe...

I think I have the face figured out at least!  I want to get face casts done as soon as I pick the actors and get the pieces made and ready for us!  It is really so much fun, I can not wait for my lights to get here!!  I got a nice set since I wanted to work with good equipment since quality matters to me!  

But soon we will have footage!!

Did I mention we finally got my drone into the air!  woot!  I don't have footage yet though uploaded...  All we did was go up into the air and spin and move a bit since it looked like rain and I won't risk my drone...  

I half think of writing a tutorial but there are good ones already that I think are very good so...  but if I ever develop a special thing then maybe  :p  anyway, hope you are doing good and going for your dreams!

Oh yeah!!  I am almost done with my entry!  Just got to figure out the audio still..   

It has been fun!  Learned so much too!  I am glad I entered even if I don't win anything since it has been fun and learned a lot.  Am I repeating myself??  Yikes, sorry, just excited and rambling!  

It is a rainy dreary day so hopefully it inspires me to work and finish it tonight....

I almost want to buy the proper licenses to show you the entry!  almost...  :p  

I think I will have it done by tonight though!  

It is not 100% perfect but I like it enough to enter it...  

I learned a lot about using Premiere Pro too!  I really love film editing!  I can't wait to begin doing my own stuff!!

Left handed...

Left handed...

I was playing with my camera, (got it today!!!  woot!!!!! ) but, it felt weird to me and took me forever to realize it is because I am left handed and have to learn to use my other hand!  Feels weird! 


I was playing with it and realized that is why the thing seems a bit off to me...  I guess I will learn to do it right handed but lets gather together all the left handed people and demand special version be made!  Should not be hard, only need to flip design, right??!!  

I will post more about it and pics / videos later...

But if you do not hear from me for a few days, I am playing with the camera!  hehe and having a great time I am sure!!  

The lights are not here yet but the rest came this morning!!!  

I am so happy and excited!!  The DJI Phantom 3 4k is also here and we are charging it up and will probably wait until next week as there is the chance of rain the next few days...  But got it!  

Go for your dreams!  You are never too old!  Working hard is a part of life and working toward the dream will make it all worthwhile when you look back on your life!  Do something you can be proud of!!  Even if it is not perfect, which our first efforts usually are not..., it will still be incredible!!

Lol, I am not kidding, this is an actual route a package ordered from New York is taking to get here to Anchorage, Alaska...  

Went from NY to NJ then they decided that made no sense so sent it back to NY...  But the person in NJ must have gotten offended and demanded my package back...  Got it and decided to send it to PA instead of AK...  PA said this is silly so sent it to OH...  Ohio was like "I don't know what to do with it" so sent it to KY because they are so fast with that Derby and all...  so there it sits...

I am sure it is nothing but the birds have been acting weird today and my own cats are a bit too...  Is a natural disaster pending??  Hehe, I hope by writing about it, it will turn out to be nothing!!  Much better to sound a bit silly then the alternative!!

Film Editing

I am having a lot of fun and learning so much!  Hoping everyone is trying the filmSupplyChallenge who is interested in editing!   What I found is it helps me to watch this guy:

He has a bit of an accent but is newbie friendly!

I am learning Premiere Pro but might switch to Sony Vegas instead...  Not sure yet..  I don't like having to subscribe to the monthly CC thingy...  I would rather buy it and update as needed and own it then rent it for eternity!  Plus I don't like the way it is going...  don't want it easily controlled and in a place others can hack in easier....  Not that I am worth hacking but still, would rather not have it all in one place and make it easy for them :p


I have my clips and music in order and adding effects now...Need title, color grading then done!!  I wish we had our own footage, kind of annoying that it is not exactly what I want but tells the story I want in just under 60 seconds  :p  I hate that is shows I am new at it, not quite the finesse I would want, but don't have all the footage I would for my story...  work with what you have and do your best, right??!!

Just a quick update!  I will have my funding by tomorrow!  It is enough to get the basics and get my low budget one done!  I am glad I finally convinced someone to give me the chance!

I am learning it as I work on my entry for the FilmSupplyChallenge, it is fun!  I am having so much fun creating this, I really encourage everyone who wonders if they would like editing to try it out!  

I am ordering my camera soon, so excited!  Been trying to narrow the shopping cart to just what I need and not everything that I want, hehe...

Got it down from $15,000 to $12,000 and did a final cut that was brutal and painful but got it to $8,000...  

I will see the exact amount I am getting on Wednesday and adjust accordingly but got it to the lowest amount and hopefully will get another $5,000 bonus  :p  

Oh man, I am using Premiere Pro and it is pretty fun!  I don't have all the extra toys but it seems enough for a beginner like me  :p  hehe, but me and toys, can see me having a lot, but all useful and not just stuff...  

Had a hard morning with it, misunderstood a tutorial and thought it was extending the scene...  I wanted to make one of mine for the contest a few seconds longer but it kept bringing back the scene I had just cut out...  took me forever but realized I was using the wrong tool  :p  phew though, felt so low thinking I was toooooooo slow to learn it!  but phew, just using the wrong tool....

I never gave up though, kept trying to make it work but doing it slower, faster, restarting the app, restarting my computer and the app :p  but finally figured it out!

So soon I will be much faster once I memorize the shortcut keys!  Go for your dreams!

We are getting the camera, lens, audio and lights this week or early next week!  Finally!!  felt like forever and a day!!!  

We are trying to film some for the Frugal series we are doing on Youtube on my Sony Handycam,  none edited yet though...  I am slow, sorry, but it is new to me and I want to try to make it look like I have been doing it awhile  :p  

But we plan so much and are really excited to finally get the camera!  

So we should have a lot of interesting stuff soon!!  I wanted to get my Soulless Doll idea done too!  that should be really interesting!!  Hopefully once we begin it won't take forever to do!  

Once I actually have the equipment I will get to work on my low budget too, practicing  the filming and figuring out the angles, etc. so when we begin I will have it figured out!  I so can't wait!!

I am doing a take on my Werewolf low budget film, not my stuff, obviously, but what a trailer might look like.  It is fun and challenging and I encourage everyone who thinks they might be into filmmaking to give it a try!

The clips are free (for use for this challenge) and you can use free editing software or subscribe for a month to use Premiere Pro...  So, there is no reason not to try and every reason to try!  Ohhh to win any sort of equipment!

I wondered why they did it but then realized that browsing the stuff you find stuff you like and think might fit into your commercial work!  clever!  

Mine is a female filmmaker gets a mysterious text about an ancient legend and foolishly says the words during the full moon...

Yikes!  But where would the horror film world be without people constantly making foolish choices :p

Anyway, been keeping very busy!
