More Photography Ones

More Photography Ones

I am getting the editing done on the videos, but taking me forever and it seems the photography ones go much faster…  So here are some more we took…  These are with the model EternalValentina  who is great to work with and so beautiful!

This is our bathroom, it is a pretty blue color.  the mirror was a housewarming gift!  We turned off the light and used just a Rotolight.    My camera is a sony A7S ii so good with low light like this!  It came out so dramatic and cinematic I think.   The kit I bought does come with colored gels to play with but we used it without any for this one,  though we do plan to play with the effects the gels have some day!  The only thing is the lights on this one is not as bright as on their newer models, the Neo or Anova Pro ones.  But it is great for backlighting and I do suggest you buy a stand for ease of use

This was taken in the back room we have been using as a temp studio, I love the cinematic effect!   We also got one that looks like angel wings too!  The lamp we bought at a garage sale we came across on a walk and thought they would make great movie props!  I did not see the blue rays when I took the pic but only after.  Looks like of cool though…

And if you have read my other blogs you know I love shadows!  Though technically I guess this would be a silhouette.  She sat on a little foot stool and we placed the lap behind her to create the look.  I love the gradient colors too!  The walls are a pink color, a nice bright girly one…

For this one I wanted a spot that would highlight her dark dress and glitter.  By this time it had fallen onto her dress a lot.  It started off just on her hair  :p     If I were to do it again I think I would put a light behind so her dress stands out more at the bottom.

Then we decided to try a more sexy style, pin up of sorts.  we grabbed some nude lipstick since she doesn't wear it usually and wanted it to look right.  We had the cutest Hello Kitty Mirror but I am not sure it shows.  The glitter in her hair accidentally clumped together when she was playing with it for the pose.  but it doesn't look too bad…

We call this one her "supermodel" one, though it was blurry.  My monstrous right hand is rough on the button at times…  :p  We were just ending the shoot and she was working out a neck kink I think and it looked pretty…

I had thought it would go faster, but I find it takes me longer for the videos, I guess because I want them perfect  :p   I have some scenes for the soulless doll prank filmed.  I also plan to get the youtube introduction one done soon.  I can't wait to show them to you!

if you area model and in the Anchorage, Alaska area, contact me!

Next Gear…

Next Gear…

I can't wait until I can afford the next gear I want!  Step by step, even if these first ones are tiny baby steps…  It will get done!  So, I find my scenes in the woods too choppy!  I plan to drop down from 4k recording to HD to make it rock for now.  I upgraded my ssd card from the basic to the $250 mega one, I forget what it is called, but it still a bit choppy when trying to do a forest scene.  I guess because I want to capture all the textures and leaves, I am not happy with it as it is now.  I can do it if I move super slow but I guess I forget as I get excited thinking how the scene will look when finished.

It is a forest scene, a chase through the woods.  The trees are quite beautiful and spaced so nicely that it seems made for a chase!

Atomos Shogun Inferno 7" 4K HDMI/Quad 3G-SDI/12G-SDI Recording Monitor

This is what I plan to get as soon as I can.  It will help capture it and not be so choppy.  I will go this week and try to go super slow and record it in small bits so it is easy to work with too.  It is $1,995 at B & H Photo.

I also want outdoor battery operated flashes.  I have an excellent set for inside already: Arri fresnel set of 3 with stands!   Now I want this:

It has excellent reviews, is durable and battery operated!  It is at B & H Photo for $1,699.  I really am enjoying playing with my current light set and can't wait until we can get a studio that has room we can do a full set up of them.  Right now i use just one, sometimes the 350 and sometimes the 650, just to see how it looks and all.  We have the 5 in 1 reflector set and our favorite is the gold bounce one or the white diffuser.

I am working my way there!  I am trying to sell some photos at Flashstock, I have only just joined it so no pics sold yet.  But I hope people grow to love my style.  We plan to find wedding dresses at used clothing store sometime and do some wedding shoots and hopefully get jobs doing weddings and portraits.

So can't wait until we can get upgrades to our camera too!  I think this Sony A7S ii is an excellent starter camera.  But it is a starter one for a filmmaker like me.  Eventually I want the 2 "A" camera set up of

either the Sony F7

or Sony F5, (or f55 if we want to dream big)

not sure which yet.  It is good to have goals and know what you want, even if not exactly sure which one…  I am very happy and decided I will go ahead and do a video on my Youtube channel this week even with my goofy looking hair.  I am growing out a haircut and at that "It looks so silly!!" stage!

I so hope they like my photos, it was so fun to try.  I find it a tiny bit limiting trying to follow someone's idea, but also a challenge to make it my own too!  I am not sure how long it takes to find out if they (Flashstock) chose a pic or not though.  It is not much money but at this point, it is more getting noticed then the money.

What are your dreams?  Are you going for them yet?  I do hope you will try!  I know for years and years I held these dreams deep in  my heart, so secret so none could steal them away or ruin them, they kept me going through a hard times!  But trying to make these same dreams into reality is a lot better.  I think anyone who has been in a rough situation can understand wanting to have a secret spot no one could get to where you could hide and dream.  But that is not the way to live.  The way is to change your life to get to a point you no longer have to hide you have dreams and goals!  It is scary, the fear you could lose this dream, somehow ruin it by not making it happen, but that is just a fear that fades as soon as you begin to work toward your goals!

Playing with Shadows

Playing with Shadows

One of the things I have always loved in photography is shadows.  Something about them always interests me when I am looking at a photo.  I was playing with the concept the other night.  We use a back room as a studio and one of our lights with the white diffuser to cast soft light on them.

We took about a dozen photos but I will post 2 here for you.  In this one I wanted to see if I could get the book shadow better.  I had tried a few times but this came out the best for it.  We had tried different angles, most with me more in front of her instead of off to the side as I am in this one.  For props we decided to use the big stuffed dog that matched the carpet in that room.  Hard to see in this pic but she has a big pink heart over one eye and a cute heart patch on her bottom.  We wanted pinks to match her dress and the walls of the room.

One thing I noticed is when posing a model you need to be aware of shadows, especially on her face.  A wrong shadow can make her face look dirty instead of "rembrandt light"…  I think I will try that next, lighting their faces and seeing if we can create unique looks.  They are very open to trying new things, even if they think it might look weird.  lol, I am glad to have them working with me!  Especially with their long hair, I absolutely love long hair.  I think it is so beautiful.

Here I loved the way her dress created shades of shadows against the wall.  It interested me a lot even though she thought it was weird to want to capture it like this.  I had a cute one where she is looking over her shoulder trying to see what I was seeing, except it came out blurry.

I love my camera, Sony A7S ii, but it is sensitive and I feel like a monster button pusher at times when trying to take pictures.  Lol, I think partly is I am using my other hand, I am left handed.  So it pushes it harder at times when I am getting interested in how it is coming out.  Plus I somehow push wrong buttons and change my settings accidentally, yikes!  Twice now I changed it to where it would slowly take a pic and it would be so blurry and it took me guesswork to fix it!  I will learn this camera and become it's master soon!

That reminds me, I took a cool one of shadows cast by a tree on a walk a while ago.  I think I will try to film one and create a gif of it…  gently moving shadows against the ground…    I think they are magical, maybe taking me back to childhood where shadows held such magic and adventure!

Enjoy and I will be posting more writing soon, sorry I am slow at it!

Harley Quinn DIY Bat…

Harley Quinn DIY Bat…

I was very inspired when I watched this earlier:

I love her videos but do not understand much French.  But it made me want to make the bat since we had the t-shirt already…  We haven't seen the movie yet and will probably wait until it comes to DVD.

We tried the "destroyed" look but lacked the total look, but here is our photoshoot for it:

she is supposed to look demented I think :p

So it probably could have been filmed as we made it but I didn't think of it until we were almost done with it…  It was pretty easy, we used masking tape for the handle and to mark out the diamonds.  It is not supposed to look "perfect" so that made it easy to relax and enjoy it.

It inspired us to create our own version of one.  We will most likely film parts of it at least so I can update when that gets finished.

Enjoy yourself and go for your dreams!

The Words...

The Words…

How is it the idea, shape and form can be in your mind so clearly, yet putting down the first paragraph seems so hard!

I am writing a sort of back story for the S'happens horror film.  It is supposed to explain the events of the tv show spin off I have planned.  I have a good first sentence but then it seems too 'dry' somehow after that…

I guess I can not decide the mood as I do not usually write a 'dark' story like this where my character is the villain, sort of.  Or she feels she is the villain though no one else does.  Lol, so she decides to write the story and tell "the truth" since no one else will.

But it is hard to get the words just right!

Man, it is so important the story starts off right but knowing this does not make the words come easier!  I have shown my process for ideas, just getting them down and not caring about punctuation etc.  So it seems like I should just be able to blah blah until I find the "feel" but I can't seem to let myself…

I think because it sets the tone for a lot of what follows.  A lot of these movies, novels, ames, etc. are tied together, telling the story of a life through her different lifetimes, her 1000 death curse.  I feel the pressure to get it "Perfect". Notice the capital there, not just perfect but Perfect!  yikes, I know I can do it, just need the words!

I love words and usually they begin to flow easily once I begin typing.  I usually have thought of the idea in my mind for awhile before I begin trying to type it too.  Some of them I have thought of for years!  This one is new though, the whole "S'happens" storyline is new to me.  But I like it and think I can blend it in seamlessly so it will seem a natural part of the rest.

Too much caffeine
my blood is pumping
pumping
pumping
though so fast that the words
whisk away before they can fully form

making me think of whiskers
somehow
illogical
and moody
darn caffeine
ruffled me up but good
but just one more sip…
to get into the writing mood…

vicious circle of love
oh coffee, so cruel a love as yours
should be illegal
and why so many never dare drink you
but me, I am the one
to grind you up and boil
just a touch of cinnamon
then a sip so divine
then a gulp and a hearty pirate swig

the words whisk away
half seen
half thought
half read
then poof they go
my precious words
waiting for me to daydream
and see them in the clouds…

whiskers to catch the words whisking away…  :p

Lol, wow where did that come from?  too funny…  sometimes my mind just needs to get words out, like too many are stuffed inside…  :p  So forgive me if it seems horribly nonsensical, it IS 4am here almost…

Well, enough rambling and maybe I should get to bed…

hugs and loves and follow your dreams, no matter how late it keeps you up at night!

Home Studio??!!

Home Studio??!!

We have been wanting to do an indoor shoot but do not have a studio space yet so used the living room…  came out half okay I think…  Lol, you can see my #SteveStevens button pinning the curtain closed in some I think…

#SteveStevens button showing…  :p

Still using the same 2 models, I so hope someone else dares to try me sometime!!  Not that I don't love these models, they are great!!

Do a tango…

And the other…

and then my assistant took this:

We do plan to get the videos filmed soon!  I know it seems we are putting it off and that is only because I am growing out a haircut and feel my hair looks very goofy right now  :p

But we should have some done and edited by the weekend!

I really encourage you to follow your dreams!  It is never too late, you are never too old to begin!!  Finally doing things I wish I had the courage to attempt ages ago!!

hugs and take care!
