Rise of porn in tv shows...

Rise of porn in tv shows...

Now do not get me wrong, I have nothing against sex between consenting adults, sex games adults play together, or that some people like to watch others having sex...  It is just that I would prefer you put it into special features or as a choice like we used to get to chose between normal or wide screen so I know it is possible...  do not force me to watch it...  that is not right...

Rarely does it interest me and my imagination can picture it much more exciting then reality...  sometimes it is done well, like in Hannibal season 2 I believe it was when there is a scene where there are the 2 woman, the annoying psychiatrist one whose name I forget right now and the crazy rich guy's sister...  that was well done and not explicit and fitted into the story well...

It is too prevalent in our society and most often does not fit the story but only provides a vicarious thrill...  If I want that sort of thing there are places I can go to find it, whether movies or games~ so that is not a problem...  What is the problem is when I can not escape it and there is no reason for it to be there really...  it becomes annoying!  and does not improve my feelings toward Western Society much...  :p

What we need is to let them know that we prefer the sex (and gore) to be optional instead of forced on us!  So, when you see a trailer or story that is ruined by out of place porn scenes, let them know that it should be as an option and not in the show...  I hear a lot of shows are good but I will never know personally because I cant get passed the forced porno thing...  do not rape me eyes, please!   Do not force that on me!

I quit normal tv ages ago, like 20 now and rent from Blockbuster ones I want to see.  It used to be it was clearly labeled with YRV so you knew it was porn and could decide whether you wanted to rent it or not.  Now you rent a tv show and you can find yourself watching grown men after little girls ~ugh!!

You are not powerless, you can stop this from happening!  Speak up!

Tiny Home Movement

Tiny Home Movement

What do you think of the Tiny Home Movement?  I truly love the idea, that people are realizing the impact they have had on the planet and want to change that.  I began watching the videos on YouTube, wanting to see what they are like.  Some I thought were "cute", a few "nice" and one I could actually see myself living in:

It has the sort of feel I would want in my own home.  I often wonder what it would be like to be "off grid".  I wonder how much of it we can transfer to our normal home life.  I think because I am short like her I could have that double loft and not feel closed in.

But I would probably go for a boat rather then a tiny home since I hope to someday be able to go back to Attu / Near Islands!  but this boat is a whole other blog :p

This is what I would probably do instead of a tiny home though...

But we do sort of live in a "tiny home" even though we are just about 1200 sq ft. there are 5 adult woman here.  I have been looking into options for when we remodel it.  I love murphy beds and that sort of thing and found a very cool home in the sort of style I would like for here:

So amazing to me!  I love seeing the ingenuity of people!  I like this sliding wall better then some I have seen because it does not have the rail in the floor.  I would rather pay a bit extra and get what I really want though.   I loved the complete tiled bathroom hiding the shelving...lovely! And their kitchen table that can raise and lower itself I love too!  Sometimes it would be nice to be able to stand straight and write then sitting and a table that can rise like that would be great!  Plus it hides the cables and stuff in the sliding pantry next to it.

I like that one tiny home also because of the stairs.  We have not picked an option yet, but one is to move the kitchen and add that sort of stair into attic lofts.  We want to create a look that will be modern Unangan that is a blend of the Orient, a bit Russian influence, a bit Asian influence like we would have traded with back in the day on Attu...  But I love the Marrakesh feel of her place too...  So maybe it will end up "Global" hehe....

It is funny how ideas can change as you discover the "technology to go off-grid" stuff...  I first wanted to redo the house in Cedar, inside and out...  But then I began thinking we should design it with a greenhouse too and then it changed to an attached greenhouse/attic space into 2 rooms idea now...   So the money would be spent on adding the greenhouse and converting the attic area.

It is great to be inspired by creative ideas people have done!  I hope someday what we do will inspire others too!  until then,

True War Criminals

True War Criminals

Will you understand that this is said with no hatred in my heart, just feeling the irony so strongly...

France has a long history of stealing lands and resources from all over the world, to this day they are war criminals (a.k.a Canada) with absolutely no intention of stopping either...  I even read they are trying to call themselves "indigenous" now...   sorry but 400 years of war crimes does not an indigenous person make!  You can not steal "indigenous" even if you steal the lands...

Every single day I live with the fact that America has stolen my home land...  I am from Attu (which they try to say we dont exist anymore as if it is their choice!!!).  I live every single day with the knowledge that while my mother was an American prisoner of war, starving slowly to death and forced to watch her children die of starvation, that America was eyeing her little island with lust and greed.  That they denied them the right to go back to it, claiming they were "too frail" or some such nonsense...

I believe they get a couple billion fishing our waters so what are a few natives compared to all that yummy cash??  No matter they destroy the whole ecosystem doing it...  Nothing trumps making money right?

I just went through my oldest brothers funeral, he served in Vietnam, proudly served his country but was denied burial at the JBER here in town.  At first they said they could not find his record at all...  Then they said it was denied and are trying to say he was dishonorably discharged or something!  No way!

So many of the Vietnam vets are homeless...  but what is that saying?  something like when they came for the "whoever" I did nothing because I was not "whoever" and so on and so on until it goes "and then they came for me and there was no one left to help"...  bad paraphrasing but you get the idea...

When you breed this much ill-will, you have to understand nothing good will come of it!

So, my heart does go out to those who experience terror and violence, truly!  But I have to ask...  why do you " stand with them" and not my people???   How do you choose?  Do you even think about it?  That every single thing you enjoy in this country is drenched in the blood of the indigenous who live with the pain and violence 24/7?  does not that even register at all for you???

What is funny is this started out to be a DIY blog about how my daughter and I sewed her first skirt together the other night.  We still need to do the hem so no pictures yet...  I went to YouTube to find the one we watched and saw that "We stand with Paris" thing...  got me thinking of how ironic it is...  Or is it merely just super sad and disgusting??

Anyway...  My heart truly does go to those who experienced that violence!  So, while I am not exactly standing with you, I would if your boot was not stepping on me head sort of thing...

Very Excited!

Very Excited!

I should be able to buy my equipment soon!  I can not wait to finally get started on my projects!  I also have a side project going, part of the "networking" where I am helping develop some tv shows!  We should hopefully begin filming out pilot episode soon, too.

But I am planning to get my YouTube going with a few channels.  One will be just how we are preparing for the Bride of Sorrows stuff.  It is my main project.  It is about a lady who refuses a marriage offer with the words "I would rather die a thousand deaths" and unfortunately the demon who proposed to her has the power to do that...  So we tell her tragic tale in 1,000 lives lived through films, novels, video games!

But I plan one on "Decolonizing Methodology", half humor since there is no hate on my part!  But it is meant to be serious and truthful, even when the truths hurt a bit...  I hope to do animated cartoons in the future too, so much to learn!  It is a series I can see in my head that goes with this theme perfectly!

The documentaries I plan are also very important as our story needs to be told, the very real attempt at erasure!  How we are not a crazed people who only know killing as a means to a solution as some cultures (ahem) but find ways to keep modern tech with as much of our culture as we can manage.

It is extremely hard to keep one's culture when our "corporation" has provided us only with a "word of the month"!!  Can you imagine?  It is meant to be our voice and all and it gives us a word of the month! Words can not describe the disgust I feel for the war criminals who thought up this ingenious plan to rob us of our own lands!!

But I do not turn this disgust into something ugly, I turn it into creative works that help show the beauty of my culture instead.  My mother was the main reason I am able to see the beauty in life after all the ugly and cruelty that happened to our tribe!  There is discomfort in the thoughts but not even close to how we feel about this subject!  Words can heal, things need to change!  We can make it happen, and I am doing my part...

I so look forward to getting my first equipment!  I expect good things to follow shortly thereafter!

Soon!!!  The anticipation is killing me...

What exactly is the Countdown?

What exactly is the Countdown?

Someone asked me what my image means...  Where it says "The 5 year plan...  let the Countdown begin"...  it is a novel I am writing that was meant to kick off my media company (before I got the idea to d the trilogy of horror films)...

It is a novel I am writing and plan to turn into a campaign at Indiegogo sometime.  My first campaign fizzled out but I guess that is to be expected since it was for the 'get experience and equipment' instead of for the actual trilogy films...  But this novel is about halfway done...   (I am currently helping develop a tv show that will hopefully earn me enough to buy my film kit I drool over :p  )

But the idea was my 5-year plan after the divorce that left me and my daughters with absolutely nothing but each other...  How "happiness is the best revenge" because our Motto and how we plan to put the plan into action soon!

When either the novel is completed or I decide to launch the campaign, i will update about it..  please feel free to ask me any questions and if you dont hear back from me right away then I have not seen it.  I respond as soon as I see one!

Frugal Living

Frugal Living

I am so interested in learning the ways of my tribe!  I know we wasted nothing and that is a hard thing to try when you were raised a "big city girl" (hehe, Anchorage is the biggest city at around 450,000 or so I believe).

I can remember my mom saving onion skins all year long and wondering why she would do that.  She used it as a dye at Easter.  They lived in a wondrous island away from the world a lot like I imagine in those martial art movies where the heroes want to find a spot away from people!

So, we came what I call "turning Vegetarian" about 10 years ago now.  We still bought bread and pastries that may have animal products in them, that sort of thing.  So we called it "turning vegetarian" since it was a goal we aspired to.  The girls were half into it wholeheartedly and half wondering how to escape it in prepared pastry and such...

We found many substitutes that work well now that we are used to this lifestyle for the most part.  We try hard to be vegan and that is hard here in Anchorage for us!  Fresh fruit is so expensive!  We want to add on a greenhouse attached to the southern backside of the house soon!  I watched some YouTube videos about it and find it so fascinating!  The advances in the technology and knowledge are much different then even a decade ago!

Now it seems possible but even more then that, it seems practical!  Trying to see if I can embed the video...  Woot, it appears to me above this portion, so yeah!  That was the one I watched that inspired me to begin planning one myself!

Course, the first part of that plan is to get a nice savings going so I can set a realistic budget and all of that.  So going "frugal" is what we decided to do...

While it is interesting and fun to try doing things for ourselves, we also can apply this knowledge to our media company later on too!  Sewing our own clothes an turn into sewing our own costumes for the films!  So, it is a practical idea to invest in a sewing machine and some fabric.  Learning to craft things like our own soap, candles, face and body creams, etc. will help us when it comes time to do our films too!  knowledge wont ever be wasted!  So, we have begun small.  Teaching one how to sew her own patchwork pillowcase!

A lady who lives in a similiar climate inspired me to think about doing this too:

I love that idea!  I think every kid has tried the toothpick and avocado thing and then not thought of it again, right??!!  It is a great idea, especially if you live in an area where organic produce is pricey!

Making our own beauty products is an idea we have always had.  To gain enough experience to open our own little shop would be so cool!

I would love to hear your tips on ways to be frugal!  It is so important to learn to be a community, even if it is only ever online!  I will try to post things I learn as I go along, and also when I start my Youtube channel about it!

hugs,

Attu

Attu

It really drives me crazy, how it happened!  The truth of what happened and how it is referred to...

Here is an article that is an example of what I mean:

Example of wrong descriptions!

This line especially:

Half would die before they returned to America. None would ever see their village again.

Nowhere does it say that they would never see their village again because America stole it away from them!!  It is a very terrible part of American history, one they want to erase, just as they are trying to erase us!

If you hear them tell it, Attu tribe is gone along with our "lost" village...  but they were never given the choice because by then it was a US navy base!!  It is America's disgrace and eternal shame how they were treated.  Instead of trying to correct the evil they did they try to erase the descendants.

It needs to be corrected!  It is why I want to create my stories, to show the world the beauty of my people!  That they will lose a rare and unique gift if they allow us to become erased!

I am trying to get funding but it is going slowly!  I am currently working on help develop a tv show, so that is a start I guess.  The experience I gain will help me in future funding I hope!

I hope to get my non-profit off the ground soon too!  So trying very hard and things are going forward so that is good!

But please help!  When you see articles saying things like "lost village" please write to correct it.  Tell them to say the truth of what happened instead of a vague "lost" or even worse one: "abandoned"!   The Unangan were forcibly removed from their villages, not by choice!  So please write them to correct it when you see them using these words!  Words have meaning!  And these meanings are an insult to the survivors of this horrible, destructive war crimes!

thanks!   ~Sea

He Built A Bike That Ignores Physics

what a fun idea!
